If I could stand the same degree of heat, I’d run the triathlon I watched a man with half my speed get up and run with his khakis on If I would go to sleep on time, I’d wake up and write before the light came in Stayed up late then slept past nine, the sunrise has let the shame win If I could stop pretending and second guessing Never play dumb again I’ll grow old waiting for the right mood on a sunny day It’s not worth chasing Perfection the hard way I’ll force myself, to write this song An armored shell that’s cracked before too long My best intentions can’t do the same

Verse 1: Just let the tv pass the time It’s strange to think that heros disguised and a way to save lives Is staying home and drinking wine It’s our reluctant holiday from the human racetrack Out the window, it’s nature’s crescendo How did it sound so far away Chorus: I remember what you said It takes time for closure And If you feel the dread The days grow closer still That’s human force of will Verse 2: We’re in a global marathon Dragged along a treadmill The legs are tired but do what’s required The invisible penalty We judge other people as radiation by affiliation Bridge: I’m only watching from a distance, while the others march to war everyday soldiers in persistence, of a calm worth waiting for I had a dream that in the ocean down past where light forgets to go There rose a voice from the commotion

Verse 1: If you’re the hit, I’m the sequel, made half as much. A shameless copy of the real thing. I live in the bargain bins but still counting it as a win I only feed off inspiring hosts It’s one sided, but they were done with it anyway I’ll never have my fill There’s always more of that talent spill Chorus: It’s hard to make art not built on the shoulders of those you most adore But it’s just a start, a branching path to move forward, exciting just to explore Verse 2: Underneath my microscope, I study everything Frantically taking notes and analyzing the view Bridge: The thieves aren’t here alone and when they feel the covers blown They disperse into the night a tangled mess just out of sight You’ll feel a lot better once you’ve found your feet You have to sample all the best food just to cut your teeth Yes, everybody needs to eat

Dream Motel 02:45
Verse 1: If paper folds in the wrong direction a crease can seem impractical to smooth And the dream motel is always easier to choose To watch your worst color choice of paint dry, a clear reminder on the walls But the dream motel doesn’t mind it much at all Chorus: We’re getting older, and more refined but the faded line is getting harder to trace And if you hear a door close just behind Keep a spare key just in case Verse 2: A full continental breakfast can’t hide the microwave’s M.O. But the dream motel isn’t offering chateau
5.
Verse 1: I’ve seen my life without your calculus The same fraction reduced through educated guess I used to let equations rule me, like a self appointed king Tradition or not, I will no longer kiss the ring Chorus: Full stop, I revel in the silence Are you forward thinking now Or just good at freaking out Verse 2: Your voice was like a drum played off rhythm, dusk to dawn But I can fortify the walls your beating on (and I will) thank god there’s ways to turn you down You can’t scare me With just a little meditation, an image grows clear, a tiger in the snow The climate and the lack of vegetation, make you obvious and slow Bridge: Your anxious drone disturbs my garden I should cut you down like hedges overgrown I circle back, patrol the margins You’ll never get back here inside my outer zones
